| FRUITS OF WALKING MEDITATION As you go on developing your mindfulness of the walking process, there will arise a gladness in your mind. With that gladness as condition, there will arise a serene joy in mind. With that serene joy as condition, there will arise tranquillity of both body and mind. You will feel very light in body. You may feel that you are almost walking in air. With that tranquillity as condition, there will arise happiness, comfort and ease in both body and mind. And with that happiness as condition, there will arise that concentration which is serene, establishing a mind that is calm, well collected and well composed. One must bear in mind that this serene concentration is conditional. Walking is merely an object that one uses just like any other object. The conditions to be fulfilled such as virtue, guarding the doors of the senses, mindfulness and awareness, contentment etc. are common irrespective of the object that one uses for the tranquillisation of the five hindrances and the arising of samadhi. This meditation is recommended to all who can walk. Associate it, develop it and make much of it. It is for your welfare. |
