Method of Practice
Walk in the most relaxed manner at the most comfortable pace for you. Not too fast, not too slow. Relax your shoulders and allow your arms to swing in the most natural manner. Now pay attention to the walking process. Be mindful and aware that you are walking. Each step forward must be taken mindfully, both right and left. Once you reach the end of your pathway and turn back, you must be mindful of each step, both right and left, in the turning process. This is very important. In this manner continue to walk up and down.

One has to control one's thinking during this process. If thoughts pertaining to other matters arise, that will destroy your concentration. To avoid this, restrict your thinking to the walking process. When you take the right step, think "Right". When you take the left step, think "Left". If you can be without any thinking at all, that would be even better and superior. However, that may only be realised with continued effort in the practice.

If you are a beginner to meditation, start with about 20 minutes at a time, and thereafter gradually increase the time span. You can go on upto 45 minutes, or even an hour, as you develop it. Anytime of the day is suitable for this practice, even after a meal. Do it regularly, as often as you can.
