NAYAKA MAHATHERA PIYADASSI Venerable Nayaka Mahathera Piyadassi is a Buddhist monk, a native of Sri Lanka. He was educated at Nalanda College, one of the important centres of Buddhist education in Sri Lanka, and thereafter at the University of Sri Lanka. At the age of twenty he entered the Buddhist Order and mastered the religion and philosophy of Buddhism under the tutorship of the Venerable Vaji-ranana, Sangha Nayaka, Founding-superior of the Vajirarama, Colombo, a most well-known authority on Buddhism. He also attended the Center for the Study of World Religions at Harvard University, U.S.A., as a Research Student. Today, Ven. Piyadassi is one of the World's most eminent Buddhist monks, a forceful preacher of great renown, an indefatigable Dhamma-duta. In his long years of service to the Dhamma he has represented Sri Lanka at several international religious and cultural conferences. Contact Address Telephone - 584202 BHIKKHU K ÑÃNANANDA Bhikkhu Nanananda is a Buddhist monk of Sri Lanka. Before his ordination, he was an assistant lecturer in Pali at the University of Peradeniya. After entering the Buddhist order in 1969 he has resided mostly in remote hermitages. He is the author of the world renowned book 'Magic of the Mind' in which he compares the illusory nature of the consciousness to a magic show. BODHI Contact Address Telephone No. 08-223679 MR MITHRA WETTIMUNY Mr. Mithra Wettimuny is a Sri Lankan and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants of United Kingdom. He is presently the Chairman of a commercial and an industrial organisation, and has been in business management for over 20 years. He was also a Test Cricketer of Sri Lanka and is a father of two sons. He was guided in meditation by the late Venerable Matara Sri Nanarama Maha Thera of the jungle Hermitage of Nissarana Vanaya, Meethirigala, Sri Lanka, one of the most venerated meditation masters of Sri Lanka. GRANVILLE DHARMAWARDENA Dr. Granville Dharmawardena is a Chemistry major graduate of the University of Ceylon, who later obtained his Ph.D. degree from the University of Cambridge, England. He has further short term training at the Australian School of Nuclear Technology, the Harvard University (USA) and the French Atomic Energy Commission Research Centers. After graduation he joined the academic staff of the University of Colombo as a lecturer and now he is the Director of the Radisotope Center at the University of Colombo. He has served the University of Colombo as the Chief Student Counselor, the Dean of the Faculty of Science and the Acting Vice Chancellor. He has also served as a member of the Governing Board of the National Science Council of Sri Lanka and the Sri Lanka Scientific Services Board. He was the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Atomic Energy Authority for 10 years. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Automotive Engineers (Sri Lanka). He has headed Sri Lanka Government delegations to the United Nations and the International Atomic Energy Agency on 10 occasions. Office DR. A. P. K. DE ZOYSA He is presently serving as the Head of the Division of Engineering Mathematics and Management of Technology of the Open University of Sri Lanka. After graduation he has worked interalia as a Higher Scientific Officer at the National Engineering Laboratories in Scotland and Senior Design Engineer of Babcock Power Ltd. in London. Amongst the diverse areas of his research, is research in the field of the philosophy of Natural Sciences. PROF. LILY DE SILVA Lily de Silva is a professor in Buddhist Studies at the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. Educated at the University of Ceylon, Peradeniya, she obtained the degree of Bacholor of Arts with First Class Honours in Pali and the Woodward Prize for Pali. She has taught at the University of Peradeniya since 1959 and was awarded the Ph.D. degree in 1967. Dr. de Silva is the editor of the Digha Nikaya Atthakatha Tika (Subcommentary to the Digha Nikaya), published by the Pali Text Society of London in three volumes. She is also the author of Paritta: The Buddhist Ceremony for Peace and Prosperity in Sri Lanka (National Museums of Sri Lanka, Colombo 1981) and is a regular contributor to Buddhist scholarly and popular journals. She was a Visiting Scholar at the Center for the Study of World Religions, Harvard University in 1978-79.
Mr. Sapukotana passed out with an Honours Bachelors Degree from the University of Ceylon, Peradeniya and continued post graduate studies in the University of Cambridge, UK. He is a Member of the Sri Lanka Administrative Service and served in senior Public Service management positions such as Additional Secretary, State Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of Food, Sri Lanka. He has also Served as Economic Affairs Officer of UN/ESCAP (Bangkok) and as Senior Consultant, UN/ESCAP and as USAID Consultant.
