Poverty Types

There are those who are absolutely poor living under conditions of severe Malnutrition and Semi starvation levels, condemned to endure endless misery. There are those who labour under `felt poverty’. This happens when the desire for pleasure is great and the ability to satisfy these desires is limited. There can be felt poverty in the presence of considerable wealth. Buddhism also recognizes what is called `self-inflicted poverty’. This is when a man of much wealth does not enjoy his riches through greed for accumulated wealth.
